Award-winning Nigerian music star Davido has praised the role of African entertainment in reshaping global perceptions of the continent. In an interview with Apple Music, the singer discussed his new album, personal journey, and Africa’s rising cultural influence.

Davido highlighted the unifying power of music, fashion, and entertainment, noting that despite Africa’s poor leadership and governance, the continent continues to shine globally through its creative industries.

Reflecting on his time as a student abroad, he recalled being asked if Nigeria had airports, contrasting it with today’s reality where many foreigners are eager to visit and connect with their African roots.

He emphasized how African culture now dominates spaces like Paris Fashion Week and how December tourism in Lagos attracted more Americans than locals. “It’s not just music but the whole culture that has put Africa on the map,” he said. “We don’t have the best leaders, but our entertainment is it. Once that music plays — wow.”
