Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Burna Boy has been confirmed as one of the global music icons set to perform at the first-ever FIFA World Cup Final halftime show, joining an all-star lineup that includes Shakira, Madonna, Justin Bieber, BTS, Coldplay and renowned conductor Gustavo Dudamel.
According to The Associated Press (AP) and ABC News, FIFA announced that Burna Boy has been added to the star-studded lineup for the historic 11-minute Super Bowl-style halftime show, which will take place during the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final on July 19 at the New York New Jersey Stadium.
The performance, curated by Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, is expected to be watched by billions of football fans around the world. Burna Boy is also expected to perform “Dai Dai,” the official song of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, alongside Shakira.
The halftime show marks a historic moment for FIFA, as it will be the first World Cup final to feature a halftime entertainment spectacle similar to the NFL Super Bowl. Beyond the music, the event will support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, an initiative aimed at raising $100 million to improve children’s access to education and football worldwide.
Burna Boy’s inclusion further cements his growing global influence, making him one of the few African artists to perform on one of the world’s biggest sporting stages alongside some of the biggest names in international music.
