Big Brother Naija Season 6 winner, Hazel Oyeze Onou, popularly known as Whitemoney, has shared his thoughts on the realities of dating in the entertainment industry, saying celebrities can hardly live “normal” lives because of constant public attention.
The reality TV star and singer made the remark during a recent interview, where he spoke candidly about relationships involving public figures. According to Whitemoney, fame comes with unique challenges that often make celebrity relationships difficult to sustain.
“Celebrity can never be normal,” he said, explaining that public scrutiny, demanding schedules, and the pressure of maintaining a public image can take a toll on romantic relationships.
His comments have since sparked conversations across social media, with fans debating whether dating a celebrity requires more sacrifice than dating someone outside the spotlight. While some agreed with Whitemoney’s perspective, others argued that successful celebrity relationships depend largely on trust, communication, and mutual understanding.
According to reports by Pulse Nigeria, Whitemoney has on several occasions spoken about his views on love, relationships, and life after emerging victorious at the 2021 edition of Big Brother Naija, often stressing the importance of peace of mind and genuine connections over public validation.
Similarly, Legit.ng and The Nation have previously reported on the entertainer’s candid opinions regarding fame and its impact on personal relationships, noting that Whitemoney has consistently maintained that celebrity status comes with emotional and social pressures that many people do not fully understand.
His latest remarks have once again placed him at the centre of online discussions, with many Nigerians sharing mixed reactions over whether celebrity couples can truly enjoy a “normal” relationship away from the public eye.
