Fast-rising Nigerian street pop artist Ayo Maff has credited fellow star Fireboy DML for playing a pivotal role in his career breakthrough. Speaking in an interview on Trending, Ayo Maff described their collaboration on the remix of Dealer as life-changing.
“Without Fireboy, there will be no Ayo Maff because he gave me that thing I want,” he said, acknowledging Fireboy’s contribution to the track that topped Spotify Nigeria’s charts in 2024.
Following the success of Dealer, Ayo Maff has gained national attention, becoming a defining voice in the street pop genre with themes that reflect the harsh realities of urban life, including poverty, police brutality, and survival.
The artist’s unexpected collaboration with Fireboy not only boosted his popularity but also earned him a Headies Next Rated nomination. He recently performed at the iconic O2 Arena, opening for Grammy-nominated star Asake—a moment he described as a dream come true.
Now recognized by Spotify as one of the breakout stars to watch in 2025, Ayo Maff is preparing to release his debut LP titled The Prince of The Street.
