Afrobeats sensation Ruger has revealed that the first money he earned from music — a ₦500,000 payment — was entirely given to his church. The “Asiwaju” crooner made the disclosure during an interview with VJ Adams, where he reflected on his rise to fame and how it shaped his view on wealth and life.
“I didn’t use the ₦500k; I gave it all to the church,” he said, adding that his next payment was ₦1 million, which brought him immense joy.
Ruger admitted that money inevitably changes people, contrary to what many claim. “Money changes everybody. The way you address and approach things changes too,” he stated.
He also shared his ambition to attain the kind of financial status enjoyed by Jay Z, saying, “You see Jay Z? No matter how many times he’s called out, he never speaks. That’s the kind of money I want.”
