Controversial US-based Nigerian singer, Speed Darlington, has broken his silence after failing to honour an invitation from the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) over a viral video in which he allegedly admitted to engaging in sexual activity with a minor.
In a statement released online, Speed Darlington clarified that the video was purely for entertainment and not based on real events. “The said Instagram video was made for purely entertainment purposes only and does not reflect any previous or future event involving my person with any female; minor or major,” he stated.
While denying any wrongdoing, he expressed regret over the controversy the video sparked. “Without conceding to any wrongdoing, may I offer my profound apology for any bad blood or misunderstanding… but to the discerning, the video was only for clout and entertainment purposes.”
Although he failed to appear at NAPTIP’s headquarters on May 30, 2025, as invited, Speed Darlington indicated his willingness to honour the invitation at the end of June.
