Nigerian music video director TG Omori has opened up about the huge financial burden he faced while battling kidney failure, revealing that even earning ₦1 million monthly may not be enough to sustain dialysis treatment.

Speaking on the Afropolitan Podcast, Omori said dialysis at the private facility he used cost between ₦150,000 and ₦200,000 per session, with patients sometimes needing three sessions weekly.

According to reports by Punch, Vanguard and TheCable, this could push the weekly bill to about ₦500,000–₦600,000, while a year of treatment could reach roughly ₦31 million, excluding other medical expenses.

Omori also revealed that his first kidney transplant attempt involving his brother failed because the donated kidney was not compatible with his body.

The filmmaker said the experience changed his perspective on money, adding that while money may not buy happiness, it can help buy more time during a health crisis.
