Afrobeats sensation Ayra Starr has received a UK platinum plaque for her hit single released in September 2022, marking another major milestone in her flourishing career. The track, which previously made her the first Nigerian female artist to debut a solo song on the UK Official Top 100, has also been certified Diamond in France.
The Grammy-nominated singer has had a busy 2025, including a notable appearance at the Met Gala and the release of her latest single ‘Gimme Dat’ featuring Wizkid. The track, which dropped on April 25, samples Wyclef Jean’s classics ‘Diallo’ and ‘911’ featuring Mary J. Blige, and marks their second collaboration following ‘2 Sugar’ on Wizkid’s More Love, Less Ego.

Ayra’s sophomore album ‘The Year I Turned 21’ features hits like ‘Commas’, ‘Woman Commando’ (featuring Coco Jones and Aniita), and ‘Santa’ with Rvssian, and has connected with global audiences, cementing her international appeal.
Her rising influence was also acknowledged at the 17th Headies Awards, where she won Best R&B Single for ‘Last Heartbreak Song’ featuring Giveon, and earlier with a historic MOBO win, reinforcing her status as one of Africa’s leading music exports.
